~ B2 Game Recap - Game 1 - 12/11/05 vs Ball Smashers- 5/6 Loss

D5 B2 team got back into action tonight against a new team to the league, the ball smashers. Fearing for their genitals D5 started the game off with good energy. The first 5 minutes of the game went back and forth with both teams getting scoring opportunities. Both goalies held their ground and kept the game scoreless.

D5 struck first with Stephen Gould scoring on a rebound goal. D5 continued on with Dave Aloi scoring a pretty goal. Feeling good D5 rolled on with a goal from Daniel Gould to finish out the first period. The second period started out with more of the same as D5 continued to fly high as Stephen Gould added his second tally of the night.

Up 4 to Zip in the second period, D5 set the game on cruise control. Not a good idea. The ball smashers where not done yet. Ball Smasher #5 started the comeback and got them on the board finally beating D5 goalie Chris Dragotta who was playing strong and bidding for a shutout. With the first goal out of the way the ball smashers were rolling. Goals by #2 and another by #5 brought the game with in one. Unfortunately with only 7 mins left in the game D5 player Stephen Gould was called for the games only trip to the sin bin. Ball smashers capitalized tying the game at 4. But the Ball smashers were not done yet. Capping off a hat trick #5 scored again.

Now with D5 one and looking at 5 unanswered goals, D5 needed a boast. Pulling the keeper with under a minute to go D5 was able to score on a nice point shot by Dave Aloi with just 31.4 seconds left.

Things were finally looking up for D5 and that they might be able to make up for the horrible second period by taking the game in overtime......no such luck though....ball smashers rebounded by scoring with just 4.7 seconds left....(of note #5 scored again for his 4th)
