~ B2 Game Recap - Game 2 - 12/13/05 vs Fireants- 3/8 Loss

Just hours before D5 second game of the season, D5 made a strong move by acquiring free agent Jason F. D5 signed Jason to a one season contract for the 2005-2006 B2 winter season said to be worth around 6 million. To D5 press Jason commented that we was very excited for this opportunity and that he turned down NHL contracts to play with D5. Great stuff....welcome to the team Jason...

For the second game of the B2 season, D5 drew the always tough Fireants. Before the game D5 learned that
Luke Jongebloed, Erich Harger, and Dave Aloi would all be healthy scratches for the game. This left D5 with just 5 skaters for the game.

D5 started the game strong with new comer Jason starting the scoring at 13:35 of the first. In under a minute though the course of the game would be dramatically changed....

I know all you Mighty Ducks fans out there remember in D2 when the ducks played Iceland for the first time and the Bash Brothers get kicked out in the first 2 minutes and then the game goes all to hell....keep that in mind as you finish reading the recap

D5 player Stephen Gould tried to lift up the stick of a Fire Ant forward. Unfortunately the stick was missed. Steve was given a 5 minute major and game misconduct for the high stick that drew blood on the Fireant player. The loss of Steve meant that D5 would have 4 skaters for the rest of the game. Steve made it very clear to D5 press following the game that the high stick was in no way intentional he was simply trying to play the puck and that we has sorry for the incident. (of note the fire ant skater was able to return to the game)

Unfortunately this accident would alter the game greatly though as the fireants scored on the powerplay and through the rest of the game took advantage of a tired D5 team. D5 did put quite the effort though getting goals from Matthew Gould and Daniel Gould, helpers from Jason F. and and Daniel Mokrycki, and strong goaltending from D5 goalie Chris Dragotta.

D5 will look to bounce back as the face the Seawolves next.

Of Note:
Shot on goal: Fireants:43 ~ D5:32
D5 had 23 minutes of penalties in the game
