~ C Game Recap - Game 1 - 03/16/06 vs Fire Ants- 10/2 Win

After the short off season D5 returned to action tuesday night for the opening game of the C league Spring Season. The D5 team was for the most part the same team you know and love from last season with one change. D5 forward Chris Gill did not return for the season so D5 management made a huge splash in free agency market by signing Terrel Rose to a contract. In a pre-game press conference D5 head coach Gordon Bombay was very excited by the signing of Terrel and the outlook of this seasons team.

For the first game D5 faced the Fireants, who lost in a overtime battle in the C league Winter 2005-2006 championship game to finish second last season. Right from the start of the game D5 looked great. D5 was able to overwhelm the Fireants in the whole first half scoring the first 7 goals. (goals by: Terrel Rose (4), Dan Gould, Matt Gould, Steve Gould). Behind some outstanding goaltending, by goalie Skodt Jongebloed, D5 entered the 2nd half with a 7-Zip lead.

Play in the second half slowed down after the eventful first. The Fireants got on the board about half way through the period to breakup the shut out. D5 responded with goals from Dan Mokrycki and a 2nd by Steve Gould. The Fireants added a second goal with a few minutes left in the game and D5 forward Matt Gould scored his 2nd with under a minute left in the game for the 10-2 win.
