~ C Game Recap - Game 7 - 05/04/06 vs Kingbuilt Whalers- 5-5 tie

In a late night battle D5 took on the tough Kingbuilt Whalers team. All D5 fans know this was a highly anticipated match up as D5 was looking to avenge last seasons loss. D5 started off in the hole as D5 management learned that team leading score Terrel Rose would be a healthy scratch as well as forward Dan Mokrycki.

D5 began the game strong scoring the first goal by Chad Matthews. The lead was short lived though as Kingbuilt added the next two goals to close out the first half with a 2-1 lead.

D5 looked to bounce back in the second period but instead found themselves down by two as King Built scored again seconds into the period. D5 was not out of the game yet though as Chad Matthew scored his second goal of the game and Steve Gould added his first. As both teams tried to gain a hold of the game Kingbuilt and D5 swapped a goal each to leave the game knotted at 4's. ( goal by Jim Pezzulo) Behind strong goaltending by D5 goalie Skodt Jongebloed D5 was able to take the lead on Chad Matthew's hat trick goal. D5 tried to hold on and close out the game but a tough penalty call with under two mins to play put D5 down a man. Kingbuilt quickly used the oppurtunity to tie the game and send it to OT.

Strong play by both goaltenders in OT kept the game knotted up as D5 was forced to settle with a hard earned tie. D5 really owed the tie to goaltender Skodt Jongebloed who stopped 45 of 50 shots.
