~ C Game Recap - Game 10 - 02/16/06 vs Riptides - 3/4 Loss

Thursday night D5 faced off against the always tough Riptide team. D5 was looking to get themselves back on track as they had dropped the last two games and wanted to get a win heading into the playoffs.

The game started off with both team swapping goals (D5 goal by Chad Matthews). The riptide with some aggressive play were able to add two more goals before the end of the first half. Going into the break Riptide had a 3-1 lead. D5 cut the lead to one on a goal by Stephen Gould but the Riptide bounced back as Riptide player Matt Murkowicz scored his fourth goal of the game. (Murkowicz had all 4 riptide goals). D5 got the lead back to one with just over two minutes to play on a goal by Matt Gould. Despite a strong effort by D5, Riptide was able to hang on to capture the 3-4 win.

A huge part of the Riptide win was fueled by the strong play of Riptide goaltender Jon Graney who stopped 37 of 40 D5 shots.

D5 finishes the season with an even 5-5 record for a fourth place finish (out of nine teams). D5 will face Jokers Wild in the first round of the playoffs.
